SELF- REALIZATION IS KEY TO RECONCILIATION WITH GOD by Femi Obadun

Lesson from the Prodigal Son's Decision

’But when he came to himself, he said, how many of my father’s hired servants have bread enough and to spare and I perish with hunger! ‘’Luke 15.17
The above statement was made with strong determination by a boy who had gone out of his rich father’s house where abundance was a normal thing, and then joined himself with bad boys to revel in wasteful lifestyle. Of course, wasteful lifestyle would eventually lead to poverty which the boy also experienced in a larger scale later. We ought to always examine ourselves, judge ourselves (but not condemning ourselves) and tell ourselves the truth (2 Cor13:5). For example, ask yourself, this lifestyle of mine and the kind of friends that am hanging out with this moment, is it befitting for me as a child of God? If you are living in poverty, you may ask yourself this question; How many of God’s children known to me are prospering and living comfortably well? That is the question that the prodigal son asked himself! in our Heavenly Father's house, there is abundance. But if we wander away in sinful lifestyle,we will not have access to his abundant blessings. You may ask yourself this; Am I supposed to continue to experience this pain when God’s promises for sound health are there for me to claim? I’ve been working now in a paid employment for about 15 years, what do have I to show for it? What if I embark on another career, will it make me realize
my dream and bring me real success? Am I not matured enough to marry now, why the delay?
Dear friend, the point of self realization can be likened to starting your car engine for a journey. Without starting the car, you should not expect the other parts of the automobile to respond. Thus, this action is very key because without it, other ideas you need to bring about the needed changes in your life may not surface.
Indeed, many have remained stagnant over the years because they have not asked themselves the reality questions, which if they had asked themselves sternly and objectively,it would have spurred them into other actions which may have given them real success. Many are fond of giving incredible excuses for their misfortune, like blaming others for it or blaming the government or their relations. But the prodigal son, having realized that he was the architect of his own failure did not blame anyone,he did not hesitate but took the right step to come out of his problems. Today, you should start thinking about those areas of your life you would want a change in and while in the process of doing that, the spirit of God would minister to you the right steps you ought to take in order to achieve the changes you want.God bless you in Jesus name amen.
