DID JESUS REALLY DIE ON THE CROSS OR WAS IT MADE UP BY CERTAIN FOLKS? by Femi Obadun

Answer:
Many sects today deny the Christianity's claims that Jesus indeed died on the cross. They  even concluded that the resurrection story made up. If they are right, then it means that the entire scriptures is a fallacy and the claim of the Holy Ghost which Christ promised to send to the church after his resurrection only and which spirit most of us now claim to possess, only amount to falsehood. It also implies that the testimonies of many worshippers of Christ today the world over can be seen only as conspiracy, fake or make believe. And the hope of eternal life hereafter dashed altogether.
I will  try to refute the claims of this erroneous teachers using the scriptures, science, logic and tradition. Two popular theories which exist among the various sects and other religions are the denial of the actual death of Christ and the denial of his bodily resurrection. The former asserts that, if Christ is the son of God indeed, with all his claims to divine power, then it would be impossible for any mortal to harm him, let alone humiliate him by the death on the cross. The denial of his resurrection as upheld by the latter day false teachers has its root in the Israel of Jesus’ time. Let’s look at Matthew 28.11-15 'Now when they were going, behold, some of the watch came into the city, and showed unto the chief priests all the things that were done. And when they were assembled with the elders, and had taken counsel, they gave large money unto the soldiers, Saying, Say ye, His disciples came by night, and stole him away while we slept. And if this come to the governor's ears, we will persuade him, and secure you. So they took the money, and did as they were taught: and this saying is commonly reported among the Jews until this day. Those who have formed their belief system
based on the above passage may not have carried out in-depth reasoning as to the claims of the soldiers who guarded the body of Christ. For how could a man who claims to be sleeping still be conscious of happenings around him? Such a paradox can never happen. They claimed to be sleeping as an excuse of having no knowledge of the whereabouts of Jesus’ body and at the same time concluded that His disciples took his body away. What a foolish claim! The conclusion was a mere guess work and what a folly for someone to form a belief system that is based on guess work!

To the refuters of the fact that Christ actually died and resurrected after the third day, who also doubt the authenticity of the Bible, I have no further word for you on this. But to others who still believe the bible to be the inspiration of God and that it is infallible, we may advance further to prove these false claims wrong, based on the combination of bible records and medical theories. In John 19.32-37: “Then came the soldiers, and break the legs of the first, and of the other which was crucified with him. But when they came to Jesus, and saw that he was dead already, they brake not his legs: But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water. And he that saw it bare record, and his record is true: and he knoweth that he saith true, that ye might believe. For these things were done, that the scripture should be fulfilled, A bone of him shall not be broken(Psalm 34.20).And again another scripture saith, They shall look on him whom they pierced(Zech 12.10)” it is recorded that Jesus’ body on the cross was pierced on his side by a spear and immediately, water and blood gushed out, which as a result, made the soldiers not go further to breaking his legs in the same way that the legs of the other two people who were crucified by his sides were broken. The soldiers had the experience, so they needed no further confirmation from anyone that Christ had died. It was a tradition and a fact that the breaking of the legs of anyone who is crucified is the means to make the victim suffocate and thus accelerate the process of dying. But when the body of a supposedly dead person is pierced, and what comes out of it is a mixture of water and blood, what could be responsible for that and why is that a proof that death has actually occurred? While on his way to the cross, Jesus was whipped severally with flagram (which consisted of braided leather thongs with metal balls and pieces of sharp bones intertwined with the braids). This led to his loss of huge volume of blood and so resulted in what medically is referred to as Hypovodemic shock. The shock made him to collapse and thus, He could no longer carry his cross by himself; it was at this point that Simeon of Cyrene was forced to help him carry the cross to Golgotha.

You will also recall that at one point during the period of the crucifixion, he cried out: I THIRST, He became thirsty as a result of the excessive loss of blood and other body fluids. These all explain why he gave up the ghost earlier than the other crucified persons; He was beaten thoroughly more than they all. At least the following four things will happen to anyone who suffers Hypovodemic shock 1. The heart would race to pump blood that was no longer available 2.The victim would collapse due to low blood pressure 3.The kidney which regulates the body fluid and preserve it would shut down and 4,The body would experience extreme thirst as the body desires to replenish lost fluids. Since the kidney would no longer function well to hold the water, it is therefore expected that the water should gather in a sack around the heart and the lungs and this is why water came out of the dead body of Christ, when pierced. It was confirmed that He died; all his internal organs had stopped functioning. When someone who is alive is pierced or stabbed with a knife, only blood is expected to gush out of his body. In view of the above proofs, it is expected that many who had heretofore allowed the doctrine which denies the death of Christ to form their belief system would have a rethink and thus embrace the truth.
