The Syrophenician woman pleading for mercy (Matthew 15.21-28) |
She did three things as she had contact with the Savior. These gestures brought down the blessing of healing upon her daughter.I am convinced that anyone who feels that he or she is in the category of this woman, that such a person can also receive a miracle from God even now.Our God is the same yesterday, today and forevermore and Christ himself is ever present with us.He is alive,Halleluiah amen.
1.The woman asked Christ to have mercy on her (vs 22).The only thing that a sinner should ask from God is just mercy, the state of sin is a state of utter condemnation. The sinner has no right into God's treasure of miracles, healing and blessings except by God's rich mercies only. The woman realized that,so she pleaded for mercy sincerely.
2.When Christ called her a 'dog',she accepted the name, for Christ was right. She never tried to justify her sins. She never tried to give excuses for her faults.God loves such a sinner.Such a sinner who knows that God will be just if HE would decide to send him or her to hell for his or her sins. She never asked for the big blessings. She accepted the fact that the big blessings are reserved for the children of the Master of the house, that is, the Redeemed of the Lord. She said that she would be satisfied with the crumbs which fall from the master's table. That is humility.God loves it when a sinner approaches him with all humility.
3.She never allowed the negative response from Christ to discourage her from pressing and asking for the healing of her daughter further. She never let go.Any sinner who approaches God now,but who does not experience any change immediately should not let go.The sinner must continue to seek the face of God for what he or she needs just the same way the syrophenician woman did.
In conclusion,a sinner today can turn out to be a person of great faith in a moment insomuch that heaven will recognize and be proud of.Therefore arise and go to your heavenly Father in all humility and faith ,never let your sins hold you down, meet him and your sins shall melt away, and your miracles arrive.
