John Nelson Hyde was an American missionary who preached in the Punjab. Born in Illinois, the son of a Presbyterian minister, this minister prayed that God would raise up more missionaries. |
''The heart is in a serious condition,'' said the physician after examination of the patient. ''This is the most serious case i have ever run across.Your heart has been shifted out of its natural position on the left side to a place on the right.Through stress and strain,it is in such a bad condition that it will require months of strictly
quiet life to bring it back again to anything like its normal size'' That to John was a head bending blow, for his schedule called for an active ministry of evangelism. He listened as the doctor continued:
''what have you been doing with yourself? Unless you change your whole life and give up strain, you will have to pay the supreme penalty within 6 moths'' Here it was,the death knell sounding irrevocably in his ears with the crash of eternity in it's boom. There was but one thing to do: give up his ministry of intense intercession and live, or intercede and die.The words crept as a comfort through the desolate region of his mind.''they loved not their lives unto death''Revelation 12.11.Was he willing to pay that price? He had always been willing, and at the end, there was to be no shrinking. His pleas had been ''Give me India or i die''
NOTE; John Hyde was passionate about his vision for the lost souls in India where God had sent him to be a missionary.Incessant and continuous prayers has always been the means of revival, therefore we must learn to spend more time in our closets for the lost souls. But unfortunately in our day, many who are called into this work are only passionate about making money and enriching themselves rather than being passionate about the depraved souls around them.I have brought this story to everyone so we can challenge ourselves and then increase our prayer life.God bless everyone in Jesus name amen.
Oh Lord give us the grace to be more prayerful to your glory in Jesus name amen
