The use of the word love. John is the apostle of love, and yet he said
love not. And also in the epistle, he shows us that God is love, and yet
he said love not. God does love the world that He gave His only
Begotten Son and yet He said love not the world. God loves the inhabited
world and the inhabitants in the world. He loves them and that is why
He sent us to preach the gospel to them. But, the iniquity of the world,
He says we should not love. The people of the world, God so loved them,
that is why Jesus came to this physical world, but the prince of the
world, the policies, the pollutions, perversions in the world, and the
preoccupation of the world, He does not love them. So this is referring
to the system of this world that is under the control of the prince of
this world. The world of politics, entertainment, fashion, traditions
and the things of the world. The lust of the flesh, of the eyes, and the
pride of life. John was taking us back to the beginning, at the garden
of Eden, when Eve saw, the lust of the flesh and of the eyes, and the
pride of life, to be like God, this is what caused the fall of man, so
we need to avoid all these. The same thing that Satan used for Jesus in
His temptations, the lust of the flesh, of the eyes when he showed
Christ all the glory of the earth, and then the pride of life, to fall
down to demonstrate to the people His power. This is the world, the Lord
is talking about here. Love not the world.
God bless you Pastor
